Our clients aren't failing at weight loss.

They've got a prescription. The weight is coming off. The food noise has gone quiet. And for the first time in years, they feel like something is finally working.

So why would they book another session with you?

This is the reality right now for health coaches, nutritionists, dietitians, therapists - anyone whose work touches food, weight, body image or lifestyle. Whether your niche is menopause support, emotional eating, sugar and gut health, or general wellness coaching, the ground has moved. Clients who used to come to you for nutrition plans, accountability, lifestyle support - they're walking away with a weekly injection and a telehealth check-in. Job done, apparently.

Except it isn't done. And you already know that.

Let's talk about what's actually happening in your practice.

We recently asked 813 practitioners what their single biggest challenge is when working with GLP-1 clients. The answers were telling.

29%

Getting clients to see the value of lifestyle changes.

20%

Don't know my scope anymore.

5%

Said it outright - clients think the medication is all they need.

Read those again. Because what practitioners are really saying is: my clients don't think they need me.

"Showing the value of coaching to clients who think that GLP-1 meds are the magic cure all and all they need in their health journey."
"People want it to be a magic pill and want the shot to do all the heavy lifting. Helping to support guiding them to shift their mindset and reframe is what I lean into but it doesn't connect with everyone."
"My biggest challenge is their unwillingness to change eating, exercising or hydration habits. They feel the drug is doing its job with portion control and they're seeing results, so they don't need to adjust anything."

If you're reading this and thinking "yes, that's exactly it" - stay with me. Because this is not a story about your business dying. It's a story about your business needing to evolve. And the opportunity sitting right in front of you is bigger than the one you think you've lost.

The honeymoon ends. And when it does, these clients are desperate.

I've been following a woman on YouTube who's documenting her tirzepatide journey. A few weeks in, she posted a video called "Food Noise Is Gone... So Why Am I Still Eating?"

And in it, she said something I've been trying to get through to services for years: "Emotional eating and food noise are not the same thing."

Exactly.

A few weeks later, she posted again. She'd had a rough week. Online comments got in her head. She said: "I started talking meaner to myself than these women were talking to me in the comments. And I just did what I know best, I guess, when I don't know how to handle an emotion, and I started eating."

She contacted her prescriber that evening. Their response? Increase the dose.

That is the standard of care right now. Treat the symptom. Ignore the cause. Put a bandaid on the emotional eating.

"I took the needle this week and my cravings are out of control. I don't know why but I have eaten everything I could get my hands on."

"I am on week 13, and found myself over eating this week as well. For about 3 straight days I binged."

"GLP can address the food noise but only therapy can address the emotional eating. If both are not addressed then you can't really fix the issue with food."

"That was poor advice by the provider to increase the dose. It doesn't fix the problem, just puts a bandaid on it."

These are real people, in real time, searching YouTube and Reddit for help. They don't have a coach. They don't have a therapist. Their prescriber's only tool is the dose dial, and beyond that, nobody is offering them anything. They are completely unsupported.

This is your new client base. They are already looking for someone who gets it. They just don't know you exist yet - and right now, you probably don't know how to reach them either. This training fixes both problems.

This is not another GLP-1 clinical update.

Most GLP-1 training out there right now is purely clinical. Half-lives, titration schedules, side effects. Useful, but it doesn't help you when a client is crying in your office because they miss the comfort of bingeing.

What most training teaches What this training teaches
What the medication does to the body What the medication does to the mind and the person's identity
Treats emotional eating as a compliance issue Treats emotional eating as a coping mechanism that needs to be understood and replaced
Tries to convince clients to care about lifestyle Helps clients understand why they are resisting change, even when the food noise is gone
Leaves you feeling deskilled and uncertain Gives you the exact tools to become the specialist these clients are searching for

What you will actually be able to do after this training.

Psychological Vacuum

When a client's food noise goes quiet and nothing has replaced it, and the grief, emptiness or new compulsions that rush in to fill the space.

Good Patient Trap

Clients who are masking restriction, fear, or disordered eating behind 'perfect' compliance, while their medical team celebrates the weight loss.

Compulsion Transfer

What happens when the food coping mechanism is removed and the person's distress has to go somewhere else.

Ambivalence and Self-Sabotage

Clients who say they want change but are terrified of what visibility, attention or a smaller body actually means for them.

Advocating with Medical Teams

Writing professional, collaborative communications when you spot red flags that prescribers are missing.

Positioning as a Specialist

Position yourself as the specialist these messy-middle clients are desperately searching for - because you will genuinely be one.

Emma Murphy leading a workshop

I'm Emma Murphy.

I've been doing this work for almost 20 years. I'm a psychotherapist, an eating disorder specialist, and the founder of Eating Freely. I've trained practitioners across more than 10 countries and our programme has been independently evaluated with published outcomes research through Leeds Beckett University.

I built this training because I'm genuinely cross about what is happening in weight management right now. The walls between 'health', 'nutrition', 'mental health' and 'medicine' are failing clients and practitioners alike.

The signal has always been there. Services just weren't listening.

Questions you might have.

Who is this training for?

Health coaches, nutritionists, dietitians, therapists, counsellors, psychologists, physicians, nurses - anyone working with clients whose relationship with food, weight, or body image is complex.

I'm not an Eating Freely Practitioner - can I take this?

Yes. This training is specifically designed for practitioners outside the Eating Freely network. No prior EF training required.

I don't prescribe medication. Is this relevant to me?

It's more relevant to you than to prescribers, honestly. They handle the medication. You handle the human being taking it.

How long do I have to complete it?

Six months from the date you enrol. I recommend setting aside a specific day each week to do 1-2 modules.

The messy middle is growing every single day.
